A Proxy Check scans your connection for characteristics typical of proxy servers. Unlike VPNs which encrypt traffic at the OS level, Proxies often just forward web requests and may leave traces in HTTP headers like X-Forwarded-For or Via.

Transparent Proxies reveal your real IP while caching content. Anonymous Proxies hide your IP but identify themselves as proxies. Elite Proxies try to hide completely.
